Is it possible to go opal mining in Coober Pedy for only 4 hours and find payable opal? Take a look!
Two days driving, one day in Coobs, a flying stopover with the family and I still have to go bloody opal mining, well, pillarbashing at least. It’s a problem I know, but in for a penny, in for a pound.. By some miracle I go back to an old spot I worked years ago and discovered the mine had been flooded and had newly collapsed areas that revealed some gorgeous precious opal.To be fair, we do have over 30 years of experience and i reckon a bit of help from the Big Guy, (not Joe Biden BTW) Not bad for 4 hours on a Saturday morning. One day we will find so much opal that we will be able to retire.. and go opal mining.

Here are some interesting excerpt from out youtube comments detailing excellent history from the early days of New Hans Peak:

From the moment found to finished king stone, is this stone worth TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS???
In this video we find spectacular opalised shells as featured in our last video, progressing through to the painstaking decision to slice one for inlaid doublet pendants and cut the other into a classic solid crystal opal cabochon. It’s never easy as opal is as unpredictable as the vagary’s of ancient moisture. Fortunately we manage to eek in a beautiful stone in spite of some threatening inclusions and a rapidly diminishing super gem bar of colour across the top. All up, very happy with the finished result! Hopefully we share a few useful tips for old school lapidary methods. Thanks for watching! -

We say goodbye to one claim and hello to HUGE GEMS in another.. Late May 2022

Lochy and Shannon from World Class Opal and Kimberleyopal respectively, embark on another week of outrageous adventure in the dying weeks of May 2022.
Fortunately only the weeks died, but we survived and lived to tell the tale of rare and massive precious opal shells that appeared in the least expected place, as is often the case..

A small pocket of beautiful Australian opal shells transformed into gorgeous jewelry.
In February 2021 the Grace Opal brothers (World Class Opal and Kimberley Opal respectively) went pillarbashing once again on our Old 15 Mile claim. How is the serenity underground scratching out stunning gem opalised shell skins. This little pocket turned some absolutely gorgeous jewelry and all has been sold.. This material never lasts long and is getting incredibly hard to find. This particular pocket came from one of the last pillars, in one of the last big underground mines, on one of the last big worked out run fields, on the last freely accessible precious stones field on earth. Thanks for watching! -

A week in the life of Coober Pedy Pillarbashers, Australian opal mining. Early March 22.
The Grace Opal brothers return in early March 2022 to pillarbash in hopes of getting the kitty back in the black. No fortunes were found, but decent wages were made and nobody has to apply for work with a boss, so, no complaints! 😁 #outbackopalhunters #opalmining
